New org structure to better align Grant PUD with industry
Grant PUD has reorganized into two divisions to streamline its reporting structure for increased efficiency and better alignment with other public-power utilities.
Both divisions report directly to General Manager and CEO John Mertlich, who worked with commissioners to create the streamlined new structure.
“This alignment strategy better prepares Grant PUD to be successful as the utility industry, here at home and nationwide, faces the challenge of rapidly increasing demand for electricity and the need to develop new, clean-energy resources,” Mertlich said.
Former Chief Customer Officer Ty Ehrman is now senior vice-president of the “Retail Operations” division and will oversee services and infrastructure needed to serve Grant County, including Power Delivery (the electric grid), Fiber-optics/Telecom and Customer Service.
Former Chief Operating Officer Jeff Grizzel is now senior vice-president of the “Power and Market Operations (wholesale)” division, which will oversee current hydropower and future generation operations, transmission strategy and development, and wholesale electric power buying-and-selling.
Both are skilled, longtime leaders at Grant PUD who’ll work together with commissioners and other leadership to advance the utility’s strategy and external engagement. Other departments that report directly to Mertlich are: Human Resources, Finance, Technology, and a new department – “Legal, Regulatory and Government Affairs.”
“This is our basic structure, but we’ll likely be making adjustments over time,” Mertlich said. “Our energy landscape is rapidly changing, and our business must change, too.
Changes will take effect June 20 and will not result in layoffs or demotions.
