Grant PUD to "fill the bucket" with a community food drive

Donated food and funding will benefit local food banks throughout Grant County

Grant PUD employees are hosting our first "Fill the Bucket" Community Food Drive to benefit local food banks. As a community-wide event, there are multiple ways that everyone throughout Grant County can participate to help those in need.

Beginning the week of Oct. 22, customers are invited to bring food donations to any of the PUD's local offices until Nov. 21.

Look for Grant PUD line trucks and employees at select grocery stores around the county. We'll be there accepting donations from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at these locations on the following days:

  • Oct. 23 – Walmart Supercenter, Ephrata
  • Oct. 24 – Walmart Supercenter, Moses Lake
  • Oct. 25 – Harvest Foods, Royal City
  • Oct. 25 – Safeway, Grand Coulee

Grant PUD employees are also donating food and money at in-house events throughout the district.

All donations will be given to the Moses Lake Food Bank for distribution to the smaller food banks throughout the county.

"For 80 years, Grant PUD has been a part of our local community where we have always looked for opportunities to give back to those we serve," said Grant PUD General Manager, Kevin Nordt. "The holiday season is typically a time when food banks need the most support. This food drive allows our employees and customers the chance to work together and support our local food banks during this critical season."

Suggested donation items include, but are not limited to:

  • Non-perishable food items
  • Baby formula and baby foods
  • Diapers
  • Personal care items, such as deodorants, hair care products, feminine hygiene, shaving needs, laundry detergent
  • Cash donations that allow food banks to use their purchasing power to buy needed items

When days turn cold, many of our neighbors need help with more than food. Please consider a donation to Grant PUD's Share the Warmth program. All donations to Share the Warmth help those in need pay their electric bills during difficult times.
