Grant PUD to evaluate reopening of recreation sites
EPHRATA – Grant PUD is evaluating when it can reopen its recreation sites, which were closed in March because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Grant PUD operates 20 recreation sites on the Columbia River. During the pandemic, the utility is placing the highest priority on keeping its mission critical systems functioning. These systems include safely operating our dams to provide power generation, manage river flows and accommodate fish passage, as well as delivering power to our customers, and operating our fiber optic network.
Given the importance of these systems to the public, Grant PUD will consider the impacts of opening its recreation sites on mission-critical resources and employee and public health before it makes the decision to reopen.
No timeline has yet been set for reopening the recreation sites, but once more information is known, the utility will provide notification through its regular communication channels, including local media, its Facebook page and the website www.grantpud.org.
