Grant PUD block of C Street to close Feb. 28 for crane work
EPHRATA — The portion of C Street SW, between Division Avenue and First Avenue SW will be closed the morning of Friday, Feb. 28 for crane work to remove an old piece of air-conditioning equipment from the roof of Grant PUD headquarters.
That portion of C Street and the sidewalk along its east side by the headquarters building will close at 6 a.m. Parking lot entrances will not be affected.
The crane and a truck to transport the old unit will stage on C Street. The job should be finished and the street back open around noon.
The old, 5,200-pound cooling tower has reached the end of its useful life. The street will close again, in approximately mid-March, when the new tower arrives for rooftop installation. Construction cost for this project is $248,620.
The temporary closure will help keep everyone safe. Please excuse the inconvenience and take detours until work is complete.
