Diggin’ it at Archaeology Days 2020
Ancient tradition and modern ingenuity were both on display for the nearly 400 area students who attended Archaeology Days at the Wanapum Heritage center on Oct. 15.
The first day of this year's 2-day event was geared toward students who enjoyed numerous hands-on and educational activities.
Student activities included hide processing, atlatl throwing, learning about native plants, beadwork, weaving, Wanapum cultural displays and other activity booths which involved solar car races and a line safety demonstration.
The activities during the second day, Oct. 16, were for adults and included a variety of expert presentations about area archeology and more.
Archaeology Days is hosted by the Wanapum Heritage Center and Grant PUD's Cultural Resources department. The annual event helps celebrate Washington State Archaeology Month.
