Commission workshop, 8/11/2026: Grant PUD staff gearing up for the Grant County Fair
Commissioners heard Grant PUD's plans for the Grant County Fair next week. During the fair, which begins with Grant PUD Day on Tuesday, Aug. 18 and runs through Saturday, Aug. 22, Grant PUD's Customer Experience staff will have a booth in the Commercial Building and will share information regarding the utility's Income Qualified discount rate, which saves qualifying customers 20% off their power bills. They will also provide information about money-saving rebates, plus information on a variety of other Grant PUD topics and have a daily prize drawing for visitors to the booth to enter.
Grant PUD's Cultural Resources Department will have the Wanapum Native American Discovery Unit mobile museum and a full-size tule-mat lodge on display on the fairgrounds. They will share the heritage of the Wanapum in our region with fairgoers.
The Power Delivery Department will hold a power-line safety demonstration each night at 7 p.m. just south of the Grant County Sheriff's Office fair building. A second show is scheduled for about 8:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Linemen and electricians will use a special trailer to demonstrate power-line safety during this free demonstration.
It's almost 2027 budget planning season
Commissioners heard the proposed timeline for adoption of the 2027 Budget. During a report by the Budget and Reporting Department, commissioners learned they will receive a preliminary presentation on the 2027 Budget during their Aug. 18 meeting. Public hearing on the 2027 budget is proposed for Oct. 27 in the Commission Room at the Ephrata Headquarters Building at 2 and 6 p.m. The final budget will be presented to the commission on Nov. 10 and potential adoption of the budget on Nov. 24.
