Overview: For more than 60 years, Grant PUD and the Wanapum have worked together to protect, preserve and perpetuate the natural and cultural resources of the Priest Rapids Project. In 2012, Grant PUD and the Wanapum broke ground on a new, 50,000 square-foot Wanapum Heritage Center, which opened on Oct. 15, 2015.

Located next to Priest Rapids Dam off Highway 243 about five miles south of Mattawa, projects implemented at this building perpetuate the importance of the culture, traditions and beliefs of the Wanapum. To learn more visit www.wanapum.org.


Long and Short-Term Exhibits: Ample space to share the stories and collections of the Wanapum

Oral History: Dedicated area to record the valuable oral histories, Wanapum stories and the Wanapum language

Library: Materials and research space for staff and the public

Other amenities: Open space for large group activities, conferences, demonstrations, trainings and living culture programs


Normal hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
