Thermal Imaging Machines Are Coming
In our continuing efforts to mitigate the threat of COVID-19, the District is acquiring two automatic thermal imaging machines.
The imagers will be installed at the Hydro Office Building (HOB) and the Ephrata Service Center (ESC) around August 1. They will be tested for about a week to determine their effectiveness in accurately measuring body temperature to determine if an employee has a fever, which is one of the primary symptoms of COVID-19.
If the imagers prove effective, we may acquire additional units and install them in other District facilities.
We have identified a small group of employees at each of the two locations to test the machines once they are installed. These employees will record their temperature upon entering the facility using both the touchless hand-held thermometers currently in use and the thermal imager. The results will be shared with Safety Department staff who will analyze the data to assess the effectiveness of the units.
If employees at the HOB or ESC outside the test groups would like to use the thermal imagers, they are welcome to do so but are under no obligation. More information will be shared once the testing is complete. Meanwhile, if you have questions, please reach out to me, Shannon Lowry, or Craig Bressan.
