EPHRATA, Wash. – Terry Pyle, of Moses Lake, took office on Tuesday, Oct. 26 as the representative for District No. 2

Pyle, an economics instructor for Big Bend Community College, was selected unanimously on Oct. 12 by the four current members of the commission as the top pick to fill the open position. The District No. 2 seat

Commission President Larry Schaapman said Pyle's understanding of Grant PUD, including the utility's relationship with the Wanapum and his background in finance and economics, were all considerations in his decision to support Pyle's nomination.

"His knowledge of PUD history was really quite refreshing to hear," Schaapman said. "The top thing for me is that he understands the relationship with the Wanapum."

During the Oct. 12 meeting, Pyle said he was excited to join the PUD commission.

"I'm so appreciative of the opportunity and the confidence that you've expressed," he said.

Pyle will serve through the remainder of Walker's term, which expires on Dec. 31, 2022. He could choose to run for re-election as the incumbent during next year's election cycle.


EPHRATA, Wash. – Terry Pyle, de Moses Lake, fue seleccionado por unanimidad por los comisionados de Grant PUD para cubrir el resto del mandato del difunto comisionado Dale Walker hasta diciembre de 2022. El nombramiento oficial de Pyle y su juramento se produjeron durante la reunión de la comisión del 26 de octubre. 

Los comisionados entrevistaron y recibieron comentarios del público con respecto a cuatro candidatos diferentes como posibles reemplazos para el puesto vacante del Distrito No. 2 en la junta de cinco miembros. La posición representa la parte sureste del Condado de Grant, incluidas partes de Moses Lake, Warden y áreas circundantes. 

"Tuvimos cuatro grandes candidatos y cualquiera de ellos haría un gran trabajo", dijo el comisionado Tom Flint. 

El presidente de la comisión, Larry Schaapman, dijo que Pyle, quien es instructor en Big Bend Community College, fue la mejor opción entre todos los comisionados. Schaapman dijo que durante el proceso de entrevistas, Pyle demostró que tenía un conocimiento completo de Grant PUD, incluida la relación de la empresa de servicios públicos con Wanapum, así como una sólida formación tanto en finanzas como en economía. 

Pyle dijo que el proceso le permitió aprender más sobre Grant PUD y dijo que estaba emocionado por comenzar. "Estoy muy agradecido por la oportunidad y la confianza que han expresado", agregó.
