Grant PUD Visitor Center

Overview: The Grant PUD Visitor Center and its main exhibit, Experience the Power of the Columbia River, offers free fun for the whole family with plenty of hands-on activities and exhibits so visitors can learn how Grant PUD operates its dams on the Columbia River.

Description: Experience the Power of the Columbia River! Grant PUD Visitors Center is located near Wanapum Dam about 7 miles south of I-90 off Highway 243 in Grant PUD's Hydro Office Building.  There are many interactive features within the 2,000 square foot facility that allow visitors to travel through time as they see how the Columbia River shaped Grant County. A theater features several videos that describe how the Columbia Basin was formed and how Wanapum Dam works. Visitors will also generate their own electricity, learn about fish in the river, and learn about where to recreate along the Columbia River.

Hours: Open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (The center is open daily May through September and weekdays ONLY from October through April.)

Tours: Please let us know if you're planning to bring a group of more than 20, so we can be better prepared to accommodate you. Large group tours are not available on Tuesday or Wednesday. Thank you.
