Blue Lake and Sun Lakes areas now benefit from Grant PUD wireless network

Expansion will serve more than 150 customers

EPHRATA, Wash.— The Blue Lake and Sun Lakes areas can now enjoy the benefits of Grant PUD’s High Speed Wireless Network.

More than 150 Grant PUD customers in the Blue Lake/Sun Lakes region presented the utility with a petition last year requesting network services. Their request has been fulfilled with the installation of two network hubs that are now capable of providing fast, reliable Internet service to their homes and businesses. The Blue Lake-Sun Lakes area is the fourth location to be served by Grant PUD’s wireless network, joining Quincy, Ephrata and Moses Lake. This technology provides continuous network service of at least 7 megabits per second.

Customers can subscribe to the service by contacting one of the nine wireless Internet service providers listed at and asking to be connected to Grant PUD’s wireless network.

Grant PUD is building out wireless service to fulfill the demands of customers in rural locations who have asked for the rapid deployment of a reliable and fast network. By expanding its wireless network, Grant PUD’s goal is to provide services that will reach 98 percent of the county’s population by 2018. The utility plans to continue its expansion throughout this year in other parts of the county.
